Privacy Policy

Effective 7 August 2026

Kindred is a private journalling app for two people. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and how you remove it.

What we collect

What we do not collect

Who can see your writing

Only the partner in that specific space. If you belong to more than one space, each is completely separate — nobody in one space can see that any other space exists, or anything written in it.

Answers stay hidden from your partner until you have both answered that prompt. That is a product rule, not a security guarantee: once revealed, your partner can read, remember, or screenshot what you wrote. Write with that in mind.

The AI recap

The optional "Your story so far" recap sends your shared answers and notes to an AI model provider to generate a summary. That content is transmitted solely to produce your recap, is not used to train models, and is not retained by us beyond the cached recap shown in the app. If you would rather no content leave our servers, simply do not open or refresh the recap.

Where data lives

Content is stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure, isolated per space. Sign-in tokens are stored in your device's Keychain. Traffic is encrypted with HTTPS.

Retention and deletion

Content your partner wrote belongs to them and remains in their account until they delete it themselves.

Children

Kindred is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Your rights

You may access, export, correct, or delete your data at any time by writing to us. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and notify you in the app before the change takes effect.
